Fran Halterman Medcalf

In 1976, Fran Halterman Medcalf decided to use her extensive knowledge of Country Western dance to help disabled children enjoy better physical mobility. It was so successful, that others asked to join in on the fun. Soon, she found herself teaching large classes of every age group and description. She found she could not handle it alone….thus was born Boot Kicker International®. It was her dream that the Boot Kickers® would be a family oriented activity with roots in country music. We, as Boot Kickers, owe her a great debt for helping us enjoy dancing and friendships that might otherwise may never have happened. The evolution of line dance has grown to include all types of music and many different dance styles. Line dance may not just be “country” any more but it still helps us form friendships and enjoy dance.

The Blue Denim Boot Kickers® was formed in 1992 and the award winning dance group, The Blue Ridge Boot Kickers®, was formed in 1993 under the direction of instructor Allen Keefer. Fourteen years later, we are still enjoying learning dances.
